Illuminations will feature sacred music of the masters, both old and new. It is our hope and intention for you to experience peace and hope through the music of these great composers. We will open our season at the newly renovated St. Mary's of the Angels on Saturday, 7 April, with an inspiring and moving masterpiece of the choral repertoire, "All-Night Vigil" (Vespers) of Sergei Rachmaninov.
Our final concert will be held in September (date to be confirmed) at the Sacred Heart Cathedral and feature three unique settings of the mass. Our women will join forces with the Queen Margaret College Chorale and Altissime from Samuel Marsden College, Karori to perform Missa Brevis by Imant Raminsh, accompanied by chamber orchestra. The men will be joined by the Wellington College Chorale to present Missa Kenya by Paul Basler, accompanied by piano, horn, and percussion.
The programme will conclude with a moving performance of Rutter's Mass of the Children featuring soprano and baritone soloists and a children's chorus from the Wellington Young Voices and Sacred Heart Boys' Choir. This evening will also be accompanied by chamber orchestra.
